American here, agree 100%. There's the issue of parks - everything's a golf course or field designed to fly planes in, both of which are lonely, if not inaccessible, places for women. But my biggest pet peeve is that men cannot let land alone. It's nearly impossible to find nature that doesn't have men mowing or leaf-blowing or bull-dozing. If I want to be in my own yard or a public park I have to accept that I will be surrounded by strange men, often with machines made to destroy the nature (and peace and quiet) I'm trying to enjoy.
Another fantastic red and I hear you 100% as that as how I feel when walking alone - which I do often or I’d never leave my flat. I am always wary, jumpy and never wear headphones!
